ECDL / European Computer Driving Licence

The rapid development of information and communication technologies and their impact on all spheres of life, as well as the changes they have brought about on the global economic stage, create increasingly demanding conditions in the environment we do business in. As an internationally recognised standard for computer skills, ECDL is an assesment criteria for computer end-users’ qualifications.

ECDL – the European Computer Driving Licence – is an internationally recognised certificate of computer literacy, which guarantees knowledge of computing for each certificate holder, in accordance with ECDL norms. Due to the great success ECDL has achieved in Europe, the programme has been extended worldwide, and renamed International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL). ECDL is a test of knowledge of essential IT concepts, practical skills and abilities, confirming that the certificate holder is fully competent for the use of personal computers and fundamental program applications. The programme is devised for learners who wish to attain knowledge and gain a certificate recognised by many national and international institutions.

The ECDL standard defines the procedures of introducing and administering knowledge assesment programmes for the following modules:
1. Concepts of Information and Communication Technology
2. Using the Computer and Managing Files – Windows;
3. Word Processing – Word;
4. Spreadsheets – Excel;
5. Using Databases – Access;
6. Presentation – Power Point;
7. Web Browsing and Communication – Internet and e-mail;
