For some women, and in specific cases, a regular manicure is not enough to maintain their nails. Due to the exposure of hands, and especially nails, to various climatic, chemical, and mechanical factors, nails lose in their quality and become weak. One of the most widespread solutions is nail extensions. In addition to an aesthetic effect, nail extensions make the natural nails stronger, give them the right shape, and widen or narrow the nail plates. The effect of nail extensions is to achieve a completely natural look while offering a wide spectrum of nail art. A manicurist qualified for nail extensions should show creativity along with accuracy. He/she should also be willing to constantly improve his/her skills and catch up with the trends worldwide.
Learners who successfully complete the training and pass the theoretical and practical parts of the exam will be qualified to perform nail extensions by using the three most common techniques: gel, acrylic, and tips, as well as to make corrections of existing nail extensions. For the duration of the course one may decide whether he/she wants to specialize in only one or all three techniques.
Instruction and length of courses
Courses for nail extensions specialists last three months. Learners are placed in groups where the theoretical and practical training are performed at a custom-equipped salon at the Open University. All necessary tools, materials, and textbooks are provided. Upon successful completion of the theoretical and practical parts of the exam, all candidates are issued with a certificate as a licensed nail extensions specialist by the Open University.
