Realization of the project entitled Training for Ecologically Aware Serbia (TREK), implemeted in cooperation with the University of Geneva, FUTURA Faculty of Applied Ecology and supported by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Serbia, was initiated in December 2007.

The duration of the project is three years and its aim is to explore and identify stakeholders involved in the enviromental protection in Serbia and motivate users for further specialist education in the field, as well as to conduct education on the identified themes.

By the end of 2009, a survey was conducted on the sample of 1281 environmental protection professionals, 11 focus groups were held in the cities throughout Serbia and elaboration for introduction of the mandatory optional subject Environment Protection and Sustainable Development in the system of formal education in elementary and secondary schools was created.
