In October 2004 Subotica Open University realized the project entitled Youth Without Borders project, which enabled exchange of the young leaders between two cities – Osijek (Croatia) and Subotica (Serbia).

Through the implementation of the project, contacts between youth leaders who exchanged experiences, knowledge and information about youth projects in their local community were established. Also, new project ideas which would contribute to reconciliation and re-establishment of relations between Croatia and Serbia were initiated. In that way, long-term co-operation in the region was established, irrespective of state borders.
