Project summary:
The Moving Images Open Borders network (MIOB), established in 2017, includes seven European film festivals: European Film Festival Palić (Serbia), FilmFestival Cottbus (Germany), Les Arcs Film Festival (France), European Film Forum Scanorama (Lithuania), Trieste Film Festival (Italy), and Seville European Film Festival (Spain). Supported by the Creative Europe, MIOB aims to promote European cinema, enhance the professional capacities of festival teams, facilitate joint programming, foster audience development, and address societal challenges within the industry. The network's objectives are multifaceted, including raising the profile of European audiovisual works, encouraging the circulation of talent, broadening and renewing their audience base. This involves strategic communication and promotion efforts, innovative engagement formats, and transcending national and territorial boundaries to reach diverse audiences. Additionally, MIOB works to strengthen the competitiveness of member festivals by sharing best practices, minimizing individual risk-taking, and maximizing collective impact through increased financial and communication resources. Furthermore, MIOB is committed to driving a paradigm shift towards a more sustainable, egalitarian, and inclusive industry. It serves as a platform for dialogue on transnational societal issues such as climate change, accessibility, diversity, and mental health. By challenging each member to implement tools and strategies to minimize environmental impact, promote inclusive works, and create a healthier work environment, MIOB seeks to effect lasting change within the industry. Over the period from 2024 to 2026, MIOB aims to maximize its impact across all activities. Through collaborative efforts and a shared commitment to the values of European cinema, MIOB strives to play a significant role in shaping the future of the industry while enriching cultural exchange and collaboration on a global scale.
