Palic and Ludas Lake Protected Natural Areas – From Regulation to Action

The project was realized in 2006/2007 and funded by the European Union, realized through the European Agency for Reconstruction, and implemented through the Centre for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector Consortium and Centre for Democracy Foundation, within the framework of Fund to Support Civil Society in Serbia programme.
Due to exceptional biodiversity, Palić and Ludaš Lake are protected areas on national and international level. Despite prohibitions, the use of conventional chemical agriculture is still evident. Weeds like Ambrosia, which is dominant when compared to domestic sorts, represent equal threat. Certain rules of behaviour were defined and established, but the public is poorly informed and does not comply.
The aim of the project was to reduce negative antropogenic impacts on environment, primarily in Palić and Ludaš Lake protected areas within selected local communities: Palić, Hajdukovo, Šupljak and Bački Vinogradi. Main activities were directed towards education, public and media campaign, publishing, lobbying, events, practical introduction of organic agriculture and monitoring soil and water quality.
