Biofest

The need for International Festival of Organic Products - BIOFEST emerged in Subotica, the city always open to new and progressive ideas, with the aim to promote the importance of organic production from the aspect of economic development, protection of the environment and human health, and exchange experiences and establish stronger economic cooperation in the region.

TERRA’S Association has been organizing BIOFEST in cooperation with the Open University since 2005, with the support of numerous domestic and foreign organizations and institutions – Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Serbia, City of Subotica, Provinicial Secretariat for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development of AP Vojvodina and foreign donor organizations (AVALON Foundation from the Netherlands, GTZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit) , REC (Regional Environmental Centre), etc).

BIOFEST is an event modelled on IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) which implies promotion of organic production and accompanying programmes: expert lectures, presentations, tasting, etc. Since 2005, when the first BIOFEST was held, over 80 exhibitiors from more than 20 cities from our country and from abroad (Croatia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Italy), and about 500 participants in various accompanying programmes have taken part in this event. Over the past five years, Subotica has gathered at BIOFEST numerous agricultural producers, representatives of the ministries of the neighbouring countries, entrepreneurs, representatives of civil organizations, scientific research institutions, health and tourism organizations, manufacturers, distributors and consumers of organic products.
