> RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

As part of the project CityLog on 25th November in the premises of the Open University a workshop was held, during which the result of the research and the study on city logistics of Subotica and Szeged were presented.

Dejan Zvekić, executive manager of the Open University Subotica and project manager of CityLog greeted the gathering. Zvekić stressed that both cities are similar and that city logistics must be reformed in both settlements.

After the introduction Zoran Stipić, lead consultant in the development of the Study on City Logistics of the City of Subotica in the project “CityLog” held a presentation on the study on the workshop. As a conclusion Stipić stressed that since the General Plan of the City of Subotica foresees the construction of an underground garage on today’s overground garage in front of the Open University, there is a chance to use a part of this garage also for the distribution of goods (mini LOGISTIC CENTRE) for the end users. By opening an exit for the underground garage to the building of the department store “Centar” and the street Korzo, a part of the underground garage will serve for the reload and temporary storage of goods, while the final distribution of the goods will be made to the end users with the assistance of small electric powered vehicles.

The presentation of the study of Szeged and the review of joint characteristics of the study on the city logistics of Szeged and Subotica was presented by Sándor Nagy, member of the city council of the city of Szeged and lead consultant in the development of the Study on City Logistics of the City of Szeged.
The project “CityLog” is realized under the HU-SRB IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programme. The beneficiaries of the project are the “South Great Plain Regional Innovation Agency” from Szeged and the Open University Subotica Ltd.

The closing conference of the project is planned to be held on 16.12.2013. in the Open University, where the results of the project and future plans will be presented.
