In cooperation with the City of Subotica, the Open University Subotica will start off the city Film Club and Film School, which has the aim to spread the love for the art of film and to develop theoretic and practical knowledge on film among youth.

The art of film has great tradition in Subotica, due to the heritage of Alexander Lifka and his traveling cinema, and due to the celebrated actors and directors from this city who have reached European film market and also Hollywood, also keeping in mind today’s filmmakers such as: Szabolcs Tolnai, Andrej Boka, Akos Kovacs and many others. This city welcomed the great names of global cinematography, such as: Theo Angelopoulos, Ken Russell, Miklós Jancsó, Ken Loach, Dušan Makavejev, Aleksandar Saša Petrović, leaving a deep mark in the cultural life of Subotica. With the European Film Festival Palić, which is one of the most important film events in the region, and the two cinemas operating in this city with big audience and great programme, it is our responsibility to pass on this knowledge and experience to new generations entering into the life of creation.
