The Eco Dox section of the 17th European Film Festival Palić presents five documentary films about environmental issues selected by Igor M. Toholj.

The Eco Dox programme presents the following films: Severn, the Voice of Our Children (Severn, La voix de nos enfants) by Jean-Paul Jaud, The Yes Men Fix the World by Andy Bichlbaum, Mike Bonanno and Kurt Engfehr, US So2 Serbia by Nebojša Pjević, The End of the Line by Rupert Murrey and Plastic Planet by Werner Boote.

“Authors of environmental documentaries, no matter how extensive and comprehensive this entry is, are increasingly turning to concrete activism in order to deal with the core of the problem of humankind and other species survival on the "blue" planet. The filmmakers conduct this procedure through a direct, almost physical contact with the protagonists of adverse business and political strategies around the endangered world, from CEO mangers to direct perpetrators themselves. Their means of expression range from provocative interviews to direct, sarcastic black humorous provocation. Thus they prove to be somewhere in between the two extremes mentioned in the title - engaged realistic approach and refined creative documentarism that never neglects aesthetics and leaves viewers a possibility of multi-layered interpretations.

In this year's programme, there are five films meeting the above mentioned criteria. They “hold viewers’ attention” to the very last frame, giving priority to film dramaturgy over the mass media quasi-didacticism and emancipatory purposes”, explains the selector, Igor M. Toholj.
