The European Film Festival Palic 2011 and Documentary Rock Film Festival DORF from Vinkovci invite all filmmakers experienced in filmmaking (digital or other techniques) to participate in the workshop on documentary music films, “Crossovers".

As indicated in the communication, interested candidates up to 30 years of age and fluent in English, may send their applications until 10th June to the following address: Otvoreni univerzitet Subotica, Trg cara Jovana Nenada 15, 24000 Subotica or via email to crossovers@openunsubotica.rs. The applications are to be accompanied with:

a CV and a list of works done so far (on CD, if sent by mail, or in case of e-mail: indicate the links for download)
certificate about the residence on the territory of Serbia (copy of a valid ID. Preference is given to those with residence in territory of the Vojvodina Autonomous Province).
The call is open from May 20th, and the workshops will be led by the film directors Uli M. Schueppel and David Kleijwegt. The German director, Uli M. Schueppel is the author of the cultic documentary about the Road to God Knows Where tour of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in the USA, likewise many other feature films, awarded by prestigious film awards.

The Palic European Film Festival awarded in 2009 its Underground Spirit award to Uli Schueppel for his exceptional work in the field of independent filmmaking and unique poetry developed outside the mainstream of film studios.

The director from the Netherlands, David Kleijwegt made in his rich opus documentaries about Cocorosie, Antony and the Johnsons, Devendri Banhart, the group Lowi and others, and was involved in the making of music documentary series Lola Da Musica.

The Crossover workshop will be held between 16th and 22nd July 2011, during the 18thEuropean Film Festival Palić. “Through the theoretical and practical work, participants will have the opportunity to share their experience with the lecturers by working jointly on a documentary project, which will be accompanied by five concerts by contemporary and inventive groups from Europe and the region, within the festival’s concurrent programme, European Young Filmmakers.

The results of the joint work will be first screened as a film omnibus at the Documentary Rock Film Festival DORF 2012 in Vinkovci, and after also screened in several cities in Croatia and Serbia”, goes the communication. Workshop organisers cover the (full) accommodation costs of the participants in Palic during the workshop.

Five participants will be selected from the total number of filmmakers who applied, and their names will be published on 20th June 2011. Beyond participants from Serbia, the Crossover workshop will host 5 persons from Croatia. Crossovers workshop is part of a project under the same title financed by the EU IPA Fund II Croatia-Serbia CBC. The project is being implemented by the RARE Film Fan Association, Vinkovci and the Open University Subotica, and lasts 12 months, and is targeted towards promoting cross-border cultural cooperation and developing the cooperation among young artists in the field of film and music.
