> RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

On Saturday, 13th of March, with beginning at 10 am in the hall 213 of Open University, first cycle of the AGORA discussions will take place.

The topic of the first discussion is “Development or stagnation of the city”, and opening speeches will be made by mayor of Subotica, Mr Saša Vučinić, PhD Boško Kovačević and Stevan Santo.

AGORA first started in January 1993, as the initiative of 33 intellectuals from Subotica, with a desire to form a civil debate, a place where citizens of Subotica will be able to gather around variety of topics, regardless of nationality, ideology, religion, party, gender, professional affiliation, etc. As many remember, at that time Subotica was completely divided as it wasn’t one, but about a dozen cities.
Last, 11th cycle of Subotica "Agora" was held in 2002, with strong belief that change of political system will implicate Subotica city development and prosperity. We are all witnesses that things changes didn’t went in that direction and we are again faced with the need to restore "Agora", as a place of public, critical thinking about ourselves and about the city in which we live.
New cycle of "Agora" has no intention to encourage the subjective views of individuals or groups based on their specific position, ideology or political beliefs. We expect that all "Agora" participants, become involved through out their questions and contributions in this panel, intended for citizens who care about their fate, and fate of the city as a whole.
