> EDUCATION

Within the Centre for Education of the Open University the School of mathematics will start off in Septembar. The school is an upgrade of regular mathematic lessons within the formal education with the aim to compress on weekly basis the lessons’ content regardless whether one is the best or the worst, maintaining continuity in the work of the pupil and supporting the logical thinking and understanding in acquiring the knowledge from the lessons.

Mathematics as one of the basic subjects for children of regular education follows the overall obligatory schooling. Frequent problems arise in segments, when mathematics is not a simple calculation, and when education involves more mathematic operations. However, it is very important to acquire basic mathematic knowledge, since that is the basic of a great number of professions. Besides that, the person who acquired well the basics of mathematics learn to solve problems, which are not only in relation with mathematics. The logic used in mathematics, can be easily used in the logical problem solution of other issues.

Logical thinking is practiced through practicing mathematics. Each person can use the skills of logical thinking, regardless whether that person will ever become mathematician. Mathematics is not only a lesson in school or a multitude of unrelated information. All parts of mathematics are a part of a huge puzzle, which if solved can help to understand the functioning of things in nature and society. Mathematics teaches us to understand its causes and consequences, which are at first glance unlinked actions, but if linked logically they sum up to be a linked unity.
