In the Technical School „Ivan Sarić“ in Subotica, today on 15.04.2014 the 10th Education Fair was opened to present all secondary schools in Subotica and Bačka Topola, as well as several faculties and high schools to offer their programmes and curricula to pupils. The National Employment Service also had its exhibition booth, along with the company Infostud and the Club Moonlight (Mesečina).
The fair is dedicated to pupils in 8th grade of the elementary school, who have to make a decision on the secondary school they want to enroll to and their future education. The secondary schools with the help of their pupils prepared presentations to introduce the work and educational profiles to their potential future pupils. Secondary schools will put additional accent to introduce profiles, which are not the most exciting to the pupils and there is lack of interest, but are professions lacked on the labor market, such as: butcher, baker, carpenter and welders.
On the first day of the fair a Round Table discussion was held with the topic “Demands of the labor market in Subotica at first hand", which was attended by the directors of elementary and secondary schools and higher education institutions from Subotica, as well as the representatives of local authorities (head of the School Administration of Sombor Borislav Staničkov, member of the City Council for Education Blaško Stantić and Mayor’s Councilor for small economy Ljuben Hristov), the National Employment Service and several employers - entrepreneurs.
The keynote speakers were Dušan Torbica, Director of the Subotica Branch Office of the National Employment Service, Vladimir Perović, Coordinator of the Sector for Project Management of the Open University Subotica, while the moderator of the gathering was Grgo Stantić, director’s assistant of the Technical School in Subotica.
The introduction was given by Mr. Torbica presenting the data from the annual analysis of the NES and the survey of employers implemented in the previous year and the first quarter of this year. The deficient and surplus profiles were introduced in the City of Subotica and the North Backa region, as well as the predicted trends of unemployment in this year. Vladimir Perović gave a short overview of the project activities of the project MATCHDO, which will official end on 30.04.2014. Special emphasis was given to the results of the survey which was realized during this project as well as to the conclusions of the round table discussions organized in 8 cities of Serbia. At the end of his presentation, Mr. Perović invited the participants to the Closing Conference of the project MATCHDO, which will be held on 28.04.2014. in Belgrade, where the strategic document Measure proposal and recommendations for the development of human potential, modernization of the formal and non formal education system as a precondition for employment in the Republic of Serbia 2014-2020, which was elaborated and is one of the results of the project MATCHDO and the cooperation of the three relevant institutions.
The previous presentations were introductions to a very active discussion, which encouraged the participants to take part and to present their problems, which they have to tackle each day in the field of education, skills and competence development, employment, the needs of employers and scarce professions.
